Joined May 3, 2012 Messages 188,161 Motherboard Intel DH67BL CPU i7-2600K Graphics HD 3000 Mac.

It launches just fine, but closing the window, opening an email, or trying to delete an email causes it to 'quit unexpectedly'. I'm on Leopard and the last update I got was the Airport update. Really, its been crashing non-stop for about 2 days. Sorry for the shameless bump, but I really. It looks like Messages is hanging before it Unexpectedly Quits. (com.apple.ichat is the Bundle name)

I would do a NVRAM reset as a first step see How to reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Retry Messages.

If that does not work try a Safe Boot

If that has not worked check the Contacts App > Card Menu > My Card.

Is this your Details ?

In Preferences > Accounts is only one account Active ?

Having multiple accounts all trying to sync tends to get it caught in an endless loop of checking and Messages has to wait for it to finish (which it never does).

There can be other causes such as the Serial Number becoming unreadable or the ownership or Permission of .plists or the Keychain being an issue.

Close and reopen the app
